As we enter the second weekend in August, it’s easy to feel as if the summer is slipping through our fingers. Days are becoming shorter and mornings a bit cooler. But before you start purchasing fall scented candles and organizing apple picking activities, let’s slow down the summertime train and enjoy the weekend.

After all, we still have plenty of beach days and warm weather to embrace before the leaves start falling. Let’s get after it.

1. Cambridge Basketball Skill Clinic presented by CoachUp Cares

Where: Hoyt Field, Gilmore St, Cambridge

Why you should go: This is a free clinic presented by CoachUp Cares, a charitable division of this athletic-based company.

According to their Eventbrite page, “CoachUp is providing an 3 hour skill clinic for 30 Cambridge Youth & High School Basketball players. Some of our best private coaches will be working on individual skill development work and structured game play.”

2. Free yoga with Athleta

Where: Athleta, Newbury street

When: Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why you should go: Join Boston yoga instructor Caitlyn Visconte as she leads this free 1-hour dynamic flow yoga class at the Athleta store on Newbury Street. Before you know it you’ll be getting an incredible stretch and strengthening workout for those muscles.

3. Free yoga at Lululemon

Where: Lululemon, Prudential Center

When: Sunday, 10 a.m.

Why you should go: Can’t make the free flow on Saturday? Join Lululemon in the Pru for this complementary class courtesy of the athletic apparel brand. According to their store calendar, Jenna Hill of Radiant Yoga will be instructing the hour long class.

4. Spartan Sprint

Where: Amesbury Sports Park

When: Saturday & Sunday, 7:30 a.m.

Why you should go: Scale walls, get muddy and have a blast during this two-day obstacle challenge race. If you’ve never participated in a Spartan Race this is your time. Saturday is currently sitting at 97% occupancy while Sunday has more registration room left at 85%.

5. The Biggest Loser RunWalk Massachusetts Off-Road Challenge

Where: Amesbury Sports Park

When: Sunday, 9:30 a.m.

Why you should go: If you love the NBC hit reality show ‘The Biggest Loser’ you’ll love this obstacle-inspired race. Join previous weight-loss contestants Dan and Jackie Evans as they lead you through the Spartan Race course.
