As the brand ambassador, creative consulter, and guru of all things glam, JD Breen (@HankyPankyJD) talks everyday panties, the perks of the job, and the revamped Cotton with a Conscience® collection with longtime friend Jackie Nasser (who just so happens to be our Fashion Director).

Jackie Nasser: You probably get asked this all the time, but what does your title mean?
JD Breen: I do exciting creative work in addition to making sure our brand image is always consistent and on par. So my title needed to be fun and fabulous at the same time. And it had to match my personality.

JN: What do you love most about your job?
JD: It’s so unpredictable and I never have a boring day at the office. All the problem solving is the most fun for me.

JN: Hanky Panky has been around for over 35 years. How do you keep things fun and fresh after so long?
JD: I think it’s an excellent mix of extending the need for core basics and also amazing innovation. Every season you’re getting tried-and-true pieces, but you’re getting them in more colors and patterns. No one wants just plain panties every single day.

JN: You just relaunched your cotton collection. What’s new and different about these pairs?
JD: Cotton with a Conscience® is an organic Supima cotton. The fibers are grown, the fabrics are knitted, and all the trims are made right here in the U.S. So you’re getting the same Hanky Panky panties (lace waistband and all), just in yummy organic cotton.

JN: Hanky Panky allows customers to customize their panties online. What’s the most interesting thing that’s ever been requested?
JD: You wouldn’t be able to print it – and we didn’t make it. You know, you have to censor.

JN: What one pair of underwear should every woman have in her lingerie drawer?
JD: I’m going to say an “After Midnight” thong. It’s from our sultriest collection, which is great for spicing things up. Basically, it’s how you get jewelry.
