Nearly a month after two bombs went off at the Boston Marathon finish line, the city is slowly returning to normal. Boylston St. has been cleaned and reopened, the sidewalks have been repaved, and citizens have returned in droves to spend money at local businesses affected by the tragedy.

One Boylston St. restaurant, however, remains shuttered.

“Forum was ground zero as the second bomb exploded right on our patio, injuring several guests, runners and some of our staff,” details a post on Forum’s Facebook page. “The images of horror and pain that some of us witnessed will be hard to forget.”

Sustaining significant damage from the blasts, Forum, which currently has dark planks boarding the windows, has yet to set a re-opening date. It is aiming for sometime this summer.

Still, the show must go on. Despite the turmoil, the restaurant recently hired Chef Matthew Barros as its executive chef. Formerly of MARKET by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Myers + Chang, Chef Barros plans to revamp Forum’s menu, using seasonal ingredients.

While Forum continues to undergo renovations post-bombing, Chef Barros is hosting a series of test dinners for his new menu to help get his kitchen team prepared for re-opening. Called “Forum for One,” the dinner series will be hosted in the former Noche space in the South End and feature multi-course meals for a ticketed price.

All proceeds from the dinner series go to benefit The One Fund.

The first Forum for One dinner takes place on Friday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m., and the menu features delectable items like spice rubbed tuna, molasses glazed pork belly, crispy skinned sea bass, and dark chocolate mousse torte.

Tickets cost $75 per person, and can be purchased here via Eventbrite. Guests can also call 617-716-9086 or email Erinn Fleming at efleming@forumboston.com to reserve a spot.
