One of the biggest names in shoes has officially introduced his moniker to the beauty business. Christian Louboutin Beauté, a long-rumored extension of the shoe designer’s label, just launched with a flagship red nail polish leading the way. Titled “Rouge Louboutin,” the varnish is packaged in a faceted glass bottle with a calligraphy-inspired cap, playing off the eight-inch heel height of his tallest shoe, the Ballerina Ultima. A stiletto-shaped bottle is an obvious choice, but it’s also a nod to Louboutin’s first red soles in 1992, which were literally painted with nail polish.

Not unlike a pair of his coveted red soles, “Rouge Louboutin” doesn’t come cheap. Currently the only hue available, the signature crimson shade will run you $50. Start contributing to your Louboutin fund – 30 more colors will debut on August 31. Until I can afford my own pair, I’ll settle for sporting red on my toes instead of my soles.
