“We all eat. Rich or poor. Several times a day –– if we can. Food is the central feature of human society.  Food forms the basis of our cultural traditions, creates community, optimizes or sabotages our health, affects our environment, provides livelihoods, impacts our global economy, and nourishes the next generation.”Let’s Talk About Food

The Museum of Science is hosting a free, day-long festival in Boston called “Let’s Talk About Food” the end of this month on June 25th from 10am to 5pm. The festival will bring a 600 foot long endless table, a food truck court, conversations around the future of food, and an abundance of food and foodies alike to Cambridge. The idea is to spur conversation and educate people about all things edible — everything from sustainability and the science behind food to more policy related topics like “food justice.”

This is, of course, alongside the opportunity to taste some new foods. Featured chef’s include those of popular bakery in the Innovation District, Flour, along with well known restaurants like Myers + Chang, dante, and L’Espalier. You can check out a full run-down of presenters here.

The Let’s Talk About Food initiative was newly launched in Boston last year and aims to be a national organization that increases public literacy about all aspects of the food system. Sustainability, cooking, health issues like obesity, fishing and farming techniques, environmental concerns, and nutrition and agriculture policy are all focus points. The Museum of Science is a founding partner for the initiative, and Whole Foods is this year’s main sponsor along with Finagle A Bagel (the endless table sponsor), Harvard Pilgrim, the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation, and Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston.

Chefs, scientists, foodies, farmers and more are expected to gather. You can check out a video of what to expect here:
