George Zimmerman, defendant in one of the more captivating trials in recent memory, has been taken into custody after an incident involving a gun. As of now details are sparse but it’s being reported that Zimmerman may have been involved in a domestic battery with his estranged wife and her family. He has yet to be formally arrested or charged with anything.

Zimmerman’s wife recently filed for divorce.

Local news outlet Click Orlando reports that Lake May, FL police were called to a scene where Zimmerman supposedly threatened another person and is in possession of a firearm. The authorities are still “trying to determine what exactly happened.”

Whether or not Zimmerman was the one doing the threatening or was the one threatened is not clear at this point.

Zimmerman was accused and acquitted of second-degree murder in the shooting of 17-year old Trayvon Martin. The trial achieved national notoriety due to its highly-charged racial implications. Martin was of African-American descent and Zimmerman was accused of possessing prejudice towards the race throughout the trial, his alleged motive for murder.

Acclimating to everyday life was sure to be difficult for Zimmerman after his acquittal as the American public was decisively split between his innocence and guilt.

Since his acquittal, Zimmerman has been pulled over by police twice for speeding.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to BostInno as we’ll be sure to keep you updated once more information and details on the matter are released to the public.
