Today might be Sunday but if you decide to keep the weekend party rolling until the better end, I won’t judge. On the contrary, in fact, I’m pretty jealous. But if your poison is Jack Daniel’s, you might be bummed to learn this bourbon nectar is more expensive here in Massachusetts than most other states.

The elbow-tipping carousers over at Gizmodo decided to undertake a completely nonscientific survey of which states offer a 750 ML of Jack for the cheapest price, not including Washington D.C.

An update to the post, though, indicated that a bottle of Jack goes for $24 in the District.

Keep in mind, though, Gizmodo offered the following disclaimer:

This is not a scientific survey, but I tried to call basic, non-fancy liquor store for the price check. It’s not clear how much of the discrepancy from state to state is caused by cost of living, tax rates, regulations, or just good ole fashioned price gouging. If you know of a liquor store in your state that sells 750 ML bottles of Jack Daniels’ Old No. 7 for a cheaper price than I dug up, please let me know, with proof, and I will update our ranking.

Though accuracy may not even be close to 100 percent, this is still a good indicator of prices nationwide.

Gizmodo found that Massachusetts ranked 47th overall in terms of Jack Daniel’s affordability, using Charles Street Liquors price for a fifth of jack at $28.99 as its benchmark.

Alaska proved the most expensive at $35, which I can only assume is due to extreme shipping and delivery costs.

New England states overall sell Jack on the pricier side with Vermont, 29th at $24; Connecticut, 35th at $24.99; New Hampshire, 39th at $25.99; Rhode Island 43rd at $28 and Massachusetts at 47th.

Maine, however was closer to the top, taking the number 15 slot at $19.99.
