Need Saturday night plans? Tonight from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. is the annual Brew at the Zoo happening at Franklin Park Zoo, meaning that you can sip beers, eat food truck fare and mingle with friends amongst the animals.

More than 40 breweries will be setting up shop around the zoo for sampling, like Long Trail, Clown Shoes, Yuengling, Harpoon and Angry Orchard. For food, enjoy bites and plates from Ruth’s Chris, Post 390, Back Deck, Taza Chocolate, Maggiano’s and more. Guests are invited to visit the booths and wander the exhibits in the zoo, while a DJ sets the tone of the party. DJ BK will join local singer songwriter Andrew Geano for the night’s soundtrack.

This year’s Brew at the Zoo is more exciting than years past: the entire zoo will be open for guests, rather than a single exhibit. So, you can visit the giraffes, zebras and gorillas in addition to those in the Tropical Forest Pavilion and the kangaroo exhibit. There will also be a special beer available in honor of the occasion. Last month, the zoo’s gorilla, Okie, turned 21, so Hopsters in Newton brewed a Banana Weizen beer to celebrate. The beer will be available at the event as well as at Hopsters, and thirty percent of the beer’s proceeds will benefit Zoo New England.

Advance tickets have sold out for this year’s Brew at the Zoo, but a limited number of tickets will be available at the gates for $60.
