With a September release date, GTA 5 junkies tuning in to Comic-Con International 2013 via live stream were rewarded with an in-depth teaser of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5. The preview gave a much-wanted sneak peek into the lives of the three protagonists and the expansive map of Los Santos, courtesy of Rockstar Games.

After production delays pushed the release to September 17, GTA 5 looks to be well worth the wait. The character analysis gave a short-lived though engaging backstory into Michael, a former successful bank robber with a much less successful family life; Franklin, a common street hustler and thug; and Trevor, of whom the preview noted cryptically, “The less said about Trevor, the better.”

The gentire an added emphasis on mechanics and fun responsiveness. Gamers will have the options of navigating their characters through creating custom cars, buying clothes, playing sports, hunting game, deep sea diving, and most of all thieving, with some GTA signature car-jacking sprinkled in the mix.

Fictional city and setting Los Santos is poised to be the biggest environment map ever created by Rockstar, and screenshots from the game indicate that players will have plenty of cityscapes, coastlines, mountains, and badlands to explore with various cars, boats, and planes.

Gameplay will be focused on tailor made scheming in which the user customizes their plot to set up, pull off, and choose a crew for large-scale heists and car-jacking if they so desire– it is called ‘Grand Theft Auto’ after all.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the sneak peek was what the clip’s narrator called ‘GTA Online’ which they inconveniently failed to delve into details about.

From a software perspective, GTA 5 is expected to be massive and require mandatory hard drive installs for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though there’s been no word yet as for what it will require of the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
