Broadcasting a live stream from Comic-Con 2013, a surprise Grand Theft Auto V preview made an appearance this afternoon. While we’ve seen previews for GTA V at events like E3 as well as from leaked photos and trailers, the preview at Comic-Con gave a more in depth look at the three main characters and their backgrounds.

While we know users and gamers will have the option of choosing which crooked character they wish to control, we haven’t heard much about who they actually are. Today at Comic-Con, we were given insight into Michael, a former successful bank robber with a much less successful family life; Franklin, a common street hustler and thug; and Trevor, of whom the preview noted cryptically, “The less said about Trevor, the better.”

The game as a whole places an added emphasis on mechanics and fun responsiveness. Gamers will have the options of navigating their characters through creating custom cars, buying clothes, playing sports, hunting game, deep sea diving, and most of all, thieving.

Gameplay will be focused on tailor made scheming in which the user customizes their plot to set up, pull off, and choose a crew for large-scale heists and car-jacking if they so desire– it is called ‘Grand Theft Auto’ after all.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the sneak peek was what the clip’s narrator called ‘GTA Online’ which they inconveniently failed to delve into details about.

From a software perspective, GTA 5 is expected to be massive and require mandatory hard drive installs for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though there’s been no word yet as for what it will require of the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It has been confirmed, however, that the game will be made available for the next-gen devices upon their respective releases.

Be sure to tune into our triple live stream action to get every detail out of Comic Con.
