Happy first birthday, Hailo!

Tomorrow, the Boston taxi app will be celebrating its one-year mark in a big way. While you likely don’t remember what went down at your first birthday party, Hailo’s plan is to make a big impression on Boston in honor of the anniversary, and unlike you as a baby, they won’t even have to shmear cake all over their face to do so.

But, that’s not to say there won’t be treats involved. To show its customers some appreciation, Hailo will be offering users round trip rides all day on Wednesday, November 13, and Thursday, November 14 to anywhere in the city, and the first $15 of the fare will be on Hailo. Just use the codes HAILODAY1 and HAILODAY2 to redeem your credits on either day. Usually, we gift other people on their birthday, but the app is aiming to spread some love back to Bostonians this year.

In addition to the $15 credit for two rides, Hailo users will receive a free cupcake courtesy of Kickass Cupcakes tomorrow when they flash the downloaded app on their phone. To find the truck and receive a Hailo-themed cupcake. Here’s where you can find the truck:

  • Coolidge Corner Courtyard Marriott, Brookline – 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Tech Square, Cambridge – 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • Dewey Square, Boston – 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

But, that’s not all. Along with $15 credits and free cupcakes, Hailo’s got a big announcement in conjunction with their one-year. The app will be expanding its service to include Brookline taxi cabs, which, according to Hailo Boston’s General Manager Vanessa Kafka, rounds out the app’s presence in Boston and beyond.

“The new expansion into Brookline is really important to us,” said Kafka. “Cambridge, Brookline and Boston is the complete trifecta.”

The added service will make more total cabs available, and give Brookline residents easier access to a taxi that they can hail from their phone when trying to get around the city, or return home.

While Kafka appreciates the cab companies that already exist in the city, she sees Hailo as an alternative in helping people get home safely.

“What we’ve done in Boston, now, it’s a way to get people in Brookline to get a cab when they need one without having to wander the streets,” said Kafka. “It’s great service, it makes it easier for [passengers] to get around in their neighborhood, and make more areas accessible in Greater Boston.”

So celebrate a year of Hailo’s service with two $15 credits, free cupcakes, and a new expansion. As for the year to come, Kafka said they’ll be focusing on perfecting their service and network in the existing areas. And as you’re out and about tomorrow, be sure to look out for a London cab wrapped up in Hailo swag, lest you let free rides and cupcakes slip your mind.
