There’s a party this evening centered around facial hair. We know what you’re thinking – April Fool’s, right?

But we know better than to kid about these things.

Tonight, City Table will be hosting the Mustachio Bashio to raise money and to celebrate registered volunteers who have elected to grow out their facial tresses for a good cause. Of course, anyone who loves facial hair is welcome to join in and celebrate.

Some extra incentive? Both ladies and gents who arrive mustachioed are entered into a prize raffle.

The Bashio is being thrown tonight to mark the end of a month-and-a-half long quest for luscious, beardy locks that began on February 17th, when gentlemen who decided to grow out their beards registered online and elicited sponsorship from friends and family to raise money for the charity Community Servings. Sponsors could decide to donate money based on the style and intensity of the stache, with the largest donation pricing out at $300 for a full-blown Fu Manchu.

The charity describes itself on its site as providing “free, nutritionally tailored, home-delivered meals to individuals and families living with critical illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes and cancer.” It services 875 clients in 18 cities and towns throughout Massachusets.

Want to go and party without being a registered grower? If you donate $50 to the event, you gain a ticket to the bash. You can choose who you’d like to sponsor from a Grower’s Directory, featuring a photo and a brief message from the growers, or simply donate to the cause on the site. Bashio guests will enjoy a complimentary cocktail and hors d’oeuvres while they help the mustache judge, Jenny Johnson of NECN, choose the best stache. Prizes will be given for the best facial hair and for the top fundraisers. Plus, any guest sporting a mustache (ladies included) will be entered into raffles for awesome prizes.

Wait are you waiting for? It’s the ‘stache bash of the year.
