Now that Black Friday is over and you’ve (hopefully) gotten some holiday shopping out of the way, it’s time to start thinking about sending out cards to your family and friends — and soon. You don’t want to be that person who sends out their cards a day before Christmas or Hanukkah and then blames the post office when their season’s greetings arrive past the season in January.

If you’re looking for cards a little nicer than those found at the big-box stores, consider supporting local artists by turning to e-commerce site Etsy. Below are a variety of gorgeous cards for all of your holiday and winter needs, and all from Boston-area artists. Check it out:

Watercolor Happy Holidays” by Shop Design Fixation

The gorgeous watercolor background of this card will definitely grab recipients’ attention. The artist will even customize the card for you. Best of all, if you really want to send customized Etsy holiday cards but don’t have time wait for physical cards to be made and shipped to you, you can buy Shop Design Fixation’s JPEG file and print them on card stock yourself. If you’re looking for something in more muted colors, check out the shop’s most popular card, “Merry and Bright.”

Santa Paws by Dapper Dachshund

This one’s for the dog lovers in your life. The Dapper Dachshund offers four different canine-themed holiday cards on the site: “Santa Paws,” “Snowman Dachshund,” “‘Tis the Season” and “Merry Christmas.” Order a variety pack of all of them or go for single-type sets. These adorable cards would be great to send if you’re a dachshund owner or dog lover.

Light It Up Hanukkah Card” by The Fuzzy Bee Paper Company

Want to celebrate those celebrating Hanukkah? Consider this card by The Fuzzy Bee Paper Company. And if it doesn’t seem quite right, check out the shop for a ton of different Christmas- and Hanukkah-themed cards. A couple favorites are “Baby Sloth as Baby Jesus” and “The Definitive Ranking of Christmas Cookies.”

Snow Globe Watercolor” by Talula Christian

For a more colorful card, definitely go with Talula Christian’s “Paris in Winter Snow Globe.” This is another card that is sent in JPEG form. The page suggests using Overnight Prints to print out low-price, high-quality cards in various formats. This is also a great Etsy shop to check out for gorgeous prints and illustrations — ideal for decorating your home or for Christmas gifts, especially for someone interested in fashion.

Let It Snow” by A Lot Like New

Here’s another product that you can buy in an assorted set or individually. This Etsy shop, A Lot Like New, is run by local graphic designer Wendy Demambro and features four different holiday cards: Two different “Noels,” “Ho Ho Ho!” and “Let it Snow.” Buy them individually or in sets of four.

Lost Wise Men” by Crumple and Toss

It was probably pretty difficult for those three wise men to follow a star for so long — it’s like following your GPS, if your GPS was frequently effected by cloud coverage. Here’s a funny Christmas card from Crumple and Toss for those of you looking for something not too serious. Hint: The artist’s website has a wider selection of products than the Etsy store.

Zombie Holiday Cards” by Commute of the Living Dead

Comic artist Eric Boeker managed to turn his strip about zombies into slightly twisted holiday cards. If you’re the type of person who wants to wish your friends a happy holiday with dark, bloody humor, these cards are for you. The shop, Commute of the Living Dead (named after the comic strip), sells nine different zombie holiday prints. Choose to buy certain ones individually or all of them in a set.
