The final season of Mad Men premieres tonight. So let’s take a moment to wax rhapsodic about the series that’s been making waves since it first aired in July 2007. The emotional creative pitches. The smoking, the drinking, and the sex. And yes, the oh-so-dapper style of Don Draper and the whole Sterling Cooper crowd. The show may be in its final stretch, but the influence of its classic suiting? That’s not going away anytime soon. Here’s how to make that Mad Men–inspired look work for you.

The Suit: Keep it dark. Charcoal, navy, or black if you’re going all out. Always pair with a crisp, white shirt. And add a sharply folded pocket square if you’re feeling extra dapper.

The Tie: Don’t get too trendy. Stick with classic diagonal stripes or a geometric pattern. Make the look fresh and current by picking a bold, punchy color.

The Shoes: This is where you can really put your own stamp on the ensemble. Keep your kicks classic with a twist. Leather oxfords with colored soles or laces. Derbies in high-shine patent leather.

Most importantly, remember – you can still be your own man. Pick up a hint of that Don Draper vibe, but don’t turn into a literal carbon copy.

Our Inspired by Mad Men: Dark Suits, Ties, & More Boutique opens Sunday, April 13, at 11AM ET.
