Whether you’re on vacation or simply browsing online, shopping European sizes can be a bit intimidating. Though the size chart is entirely different from the one we’re used to stateside, it doesn’t have to be too tricky. Here’s how to find the size that fits you best.

Know Your U.S. Size
Standard American women’s apparel sizes can range from 0 to 24. Finding the size you most often choose is the first step in finding your corresponding European size.

Add 28 or 30
A quick way to find your closest fit is to add 28 or 30 to your standard American apparel size. For example, if you are an American size 6 in women’s, try a European size 34 first. Every manufacturer is different, though, so be sure to look for notes or comments about the fit.

Don’t Forget
Not all European countries go by the standard European sizing. France, Italy, and the UK have their own sizing systems with similar conversions.
