As you rev up your laptops to dive online and shop the best Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals this weekend, don’t forget to think about giving back. Amidst all the buying and ordering and chasing 50-percent-off sales, it’s easy to forget what the holiday season is all about – even just a day or two after giving thanks on Thursday.

To help make the weekend’s shopping frenzy more meaningful, try shopping AmazonSmile. The e-commerce giant created a spin-off site that sells the same goods for the same prices, but when you make any purchases, Amazon will donate .5 percent of the price of each item to a charitable organization of your choice. It’s not the heftiest donation, of course, but it’s better than nothing.

Thinking about doing your shopping on Amazon, and want to give back to a local charity? This season, AmazonSmile has teamed up with The Forsyth Insitute, a Cambridge-based independent research institute that supports local oral health research with ties to cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and more diseases. The organization also supports ForsythKids, a school oral health program that makes it easier for students to get access to health care.

The Forsyth Institute joined AmazonSmile in June of 2014, making it one of millions of charities to do so.
