Finally launching on Verizon today, the HTC One reviews have culminated in the device being named “Best Mobile Handset, Device, or Tablet of 2013” by the Global System of Mobile Communications Association (GSMA). The distinguished designation is just another in a long list of accolades accrued by the device, surely sparking the kind of optimism HTC needs in order to keep its company afloat.

The news of the One’s latest comes from Mobile Bloom, which also reminds us that HTC’s flagship likewise boasts “The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) award for Best European Advanced Smartphone of 2013 and 2014… And this year’s annual Computex industry expo saw the HTC One awarded the Taipei Gold Medal award for Design & Innovation.”

The One is certainly a formidable device, measuring equally if not surpassing the likes of other high-end handsets crowding the top rung of the smartphone market like Apple’s iPhone 5, Samsung’s Galaxy S4, LG’s G2, and Motorola’s Moto X. The device owns a 4.7-inch display screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, Full HD, and 469dpi pixel density; a Camera with a 4MP sensor despite most smartphone efforts being heightened in this aspect; a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APW8064T 1700 MHz processor; 2GB of RAM; and 32GB of internal storage, of which 26 GB should be readily available to the user.

HTC’s recent woes will hopefully be quelled by the success of the One, but most of the company’s problems could stem from within. Sure they recently kicked off a global marketing campaign featuring Academy Award nominee Robert Downey Jr. of recent Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes fame, but let’s not forget the One has vastly out-sold by Samsung and Apple and saw five leading executives leave all within weeks of each other back in May. The growing success of the One could be a sign that things have turned around and will only be burgeoned after joining Verizon’s lineup.
