Earlier in November, Hubway announced that its bikeshare program would remain open year-round in Cambridge, and through mid-December in Boston. If you’re so inclined to try your hand at cycling through the sure-fire Boston snow – because let’s be honest, there will be a lot of it – the above map will guide you to Boston stations that’ll remain open into the dead of winter, weather permitting.

Last year Hubway piloted winter service in Cambridge and it proved successful. Despite the mountains of snow that were dumped upon us, Hubway totaled some 35,000 rides between the months of December and March. The stations at Lafayette Square/Main Street and Dana Park will be removed from the street to accommodate snow plows.

Like Boston, stations in Brookline and Somerville won’t remain open through winter and are expected to shut down on Wednesday, November 26. But Boston’s extension into December will include most, if not all, of its stations, approximately 60 in all. Seeing as how Cambridge has been able to cycle through the cold and snow, it’s not farfetched to think Boston, Brookline and Somerville could see year-round service in the future.

Passes of the Monthly, 24-hour, and 72-hour variety will be available for purchase per usual and current annual members won’t have to pay anything extra to continue cycling in the winter. Currently, Hubway users total upwards of 12,500 with annual membership, a stark increase from last year when annual riders constituted  9,500.
