First of all – as someone pointed out to me – a tourist “trap” that everyone is “missing” doesn’t sound like a very good “trap” at all. But apparently, Massachusetts has one that has somehow flown under the radar.

At least, according to the Huffington Post. The site recently listed “the one tourist trap you’re missing out on in each state” – and of course, our state was included.

But it’s interesting that the one tourist trap everyone’s apparently been missing out on in Massachusetts isn’t where you’d expect. It’s not Faneuil Hall or any of the other tourist hot spots in the Hub. Nope – it’s in Martha’s Vineyard.

The article declares the Flying Horses Carousel to be the one tourist trap that we’re all missing out on. This attraction, according to the site, is “definitely worth a veer off the Interstate.”

The Flying Horses Carousel is actually the “oldest platform carousel in the country,” transported from Coney Island to the Vineyard in 1884. For those looking to visit Martha’s Vineyard this summer, you can find it whirling round and round in Oak Bluffs.

Can you think of any other landmarks in Massachusetts that everyone is missing (but shouldn’t be)? Let us know in the comments below and check the rest of America’s must-see tourist traps, here.
