As a former collegiate athlete – It’s been difficult adjusting post-grad to weeks without a truly competitive athletic activity. Social leagues are great for camaraderie and drinking, but let’s face it – sometimes you want the adrenaline rush felt in the final push of a competitive race. Enter, RaceMenu.

Boston Mass based, RaceMenu aggregates races within the search parameters that you set. Choose your geographic location, distance, type of race (running / cycling / triathlon), and RaceMenu will feed you the races that fit within your parameters. RaceMenu provides races Nationwide, so there’s never any shortage of competition.

Prior to learning about RaceMenu, I was miserably searching for races “the old fashioned way,” to add variety in my Boston Marathon training. A fellow BostInno writer turned me on to RaceMenu for this post, so in addition to the general research, I gave it a try.

The interface is clean in incredibly easy to use. To sign up, you can create a unique username and password, or, provide your Facebook credentials. Once you’ve entered your search parameters and selected a race to participate in, you can register in RaceMenu, add it to your race calendar, and share it on Facebook.

One cool bonus feature of using Facebook credentials to sign-in, is that RaceMenu searches your friends and shows your peers that are RaceMenu users. You are able to check out their RaceMenu profiles and see what races they are participating in.

RaceMenu was founded in May 2009, by two impressive athletes, J. Alain Ferry, “cyclist, occasional runner, race promoter and web entrepreneur,” and Colin Peddie, “Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier, race promoter and owner of several wildly successful running stores.” The two recognized a need for a comprehensive race calendar, and RaceMenu was born. RaceMenu currently shares space with another awesome Boston startup BzzAgent.
