Team USA is full of interesting characters. Take Alex Shibutani, who along with his sister, Maia, finished ninth in the Sochi ice dancing competition. On the surface, you would probably have no idea that he cares so much about Boston sports, but he does. Shibutani is a self-professed Boston sports diehard, and he has made no secret about his Boston loyalty while at the Winter Games.

Here is Shibutani explaining how much he cares about the Red Sox, and the hilarious tie between his own ice dancing career and the Olde Towne Team:

And happily enough, the World Series champs took notice of Shibutani competing for the USA in Sochi:

He also loves the Bruins, and had a chance to meet a few of them in Sochi:

And even though the Celtics aren’t represented in Sochi, he still has some loyalty:

The Shibutanis are still pretty young (Alex is 22, Maia is 19), so they will most likely be around in 2018, should they decide to continue dancing, which everyone hopes they do. Until then, keep an eye out for at least two Olympians to show up at Fenway this summer.
