If you live in Brighton, prepare to suffer a major pizza loss. WHDH News is reporting that Imperial Pizza is closing after 41 years in business.

The owner, Joe Greco, acquired the Brighton business from his uncle after moving from Sicily to Boston and getting a job at the pizza shop. Forty-one years later, Imperial has become a mainstay in the Brighton neighborhood, and Greco told WHDH that he felt bad telling his regulars that he’d be closing, the reason being that after four decades of business, he’s simply “tired.”

The pizza shop, located at 329 Washington Street near St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, never got a website after its many years in business, but being an established fan favorite in the area, it didn’t exactly need one. Greco told WHDH that his food was always made fresh in house, so the calzones, pizzas and subs became popular go-tos for lunch and late night dinner.

If you’re a fan of Imperial Pizza and want to pay a visit before the doors shutter for good, you better make it fast. Greco says the last day of business will be July 19, 2014. No word yet on what will replace the restaurant.
