What to Know

The fun, innovative, newsy stuff happening right around you.

Spot Dancing: Remember when we watched Boston Dynamics robot Atlas leap and jump through hurdles? Well, Atlas has nothing on Spot, its little robot dog friend. Spot is groovy, funky and honestly has the best twerk. Watch Spot dance to Uptown Funk without missing a beat. Gosh! Watching that thing dance got me way more pumped than it should have!

Pizza Brat: If you trust TripAdvisor reviews, you never have to leave the city to eat the best pizza in the country. TripAdvisor announced that the North End Pizzeria ranked No. 1 for the best pizza in America, beating New York City’s Bleecker Street Pizza. According to the company, the rankings are based on the quality and quantity of reviews from TripAdvisor diners. If you’re looking to go on a pizza tour (that should totally be a thing, BTW), this could be your itinerary.

Oscar for Teaching: A Cambridge librarian won the prestigious Milken Educator Award, a.k.a the Oscars Of TeachingJennifer Gordon, a librarian at the Benjamin Banneker Charter Public School in Cambridge, was caught off guard by the announcement when she was awarded a $25,000 prize (the GIF of her reaction is adorable). She is the only Massachusetts educator to receive the honor this year.

What to Do

The events in Boston to hit up today, tomorrow.

Beer Garden: Summer may have gone, but beer gardens … not yet. Head over to the Seaport district for the Cisco Brewers’ beer garden. “You don’t need to take the ferry to Nantucket to enjoy beers from Cisco Brewers. The brewery’s new Seaport beer garden will be open between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays through October (weather permitting). Pair beers with a raw bar and tacos from Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar.” Details here.

New England Fall: Fall foliage in the Boston area is expected to peak soon, so here’s a handy list of where you can see pretty dead leaves in and around the city.

Weather

Stick your head out the window. Or read below

Baby, it’s (_) Outside: Cold and cloudy — that’s today. At highs of 62 degrees, it will be windier than yesterday. Double down on the layers and stay cozy!
