This past weekend, David Hayes, the President and Founder of InsightSquared customer HireMinds, hopped on his bike to take part in the 34th annual Pan-Mass Challenge. Hayes and his wife Jennifer took part in the two-day, 190-mile ride to raise money for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. InsightSquared was immensely proud to contribute toward David’s fundraising efforts, and we were pleasantly surprised and excited to see David sporting an InsightSquared jersey on the second day of the race.

“Jennifer and I [rode] this year in memory of all those wonderful friends and family we have lost to cancer, and in honor of those who are waging their own private battles,” said David. “It seems that most everyone I know has a friend or family member who has fought the cancer battle, and I’d love to arm them (and all of US) with better weapons.”

The event drew a total of 5,533 cyclists from 38 states and five countries, riding 190 miles during one or both days of the event. Riders could choose to take-off from two different starting lines in Massachusetts – one in Sturbridge and one in Wellesley (Hayes and his wife rode from Wellesley). Participants were also required to raise a minimum of between $500 and $4,300, depending on what route they chose to ride. The PMC’s goal for this year’s ride was to raise $38 million.

David and Jennifer had set a personal goal of raising $7,800. To date, the couple had raised $8,475 and InsightSquared was happy to contribute in any way possible.

“To help out not only a customer, but a friend, for a good cause was a no-brainer,” said Frederick Shilmover, CEO of InsightSquared. “It was pretty cool to see our logo on David’s and Jennifer’s jerseys but even without that, I would’ve been happy to contribute. The Pan-Mass Challenge is a truly meaningful local event from a great organization.”
