So many rumors are circulating the WWDC on Monday, June 10 that its beginning to be hard to keep track. While we know for sure that the iOS 7 user interface is to debut with a flatter design than we’re all used to are we, as Apple loyalists and users, in for any other surprises. Maybe. Apple refuses to leak any information prior to its WWDC but here’s all you need to know about the iOS 7 release date and the WWDC.

Jony Ive, VP of Industrial Design at Apple, has taken the lead for iOS 7 after lobbying for a flatter design without the skeumorphics that made Apple famous while Steve Jobs was at the helm. It took an ouster of Scott Forstall to make this happen but Ive, after plucking engineers from OX X 10.9 in order to make the deadline, will ship iOS 7 just in time for WWDC.

Apps and icons are thought to lose any feel of popping off the screen in favor of a more uniformed feel across all. Stock app icons like Music, Photos, Mail, Safari, Messages, etc. are all expected be color coded with a white base. Along the same lines is a texture-less default background, though Apple users can expect panoramic wallpaper that pans as the home screen is swiped. Similarly, Game Center has been stripped of green felt while Newsstand has been tweaked to remove the wood-shelf interface.

Similarly, the texture-heavy notifications list will be altered to set notifications against a dark gray or black backdrop with white text. The panel for accessing Wi-Fi, airplane mode, and Bluetooth will likely receive similar a similar color scheme and easily navigable interface.

While its true that iOS 7 will sport a completely different UI that most, if not all, Apple users are used to that doesn’t necessarily mean its for the worse. Apple is a company that champions the quality of its electronics, from hardware to software, so I think that a new iOS will bode well for Apple users despite its novelty.

WWDC’s keynote session is scheduled to kick off on Monday, June 10 so we’ll be sure to report any and all coverage. In the meantime, why not let us know what you think. Will Apple wow us all with the designs of its new mobile OS or is iOS 7 poised to be a bust?
