Rumors of the Apple [NASDAQ: AAPL] iPhone 5S release date continue to run wild as a new report pegs the iPhone 5S release for late September. The latest suggestion comes from KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo citing production issues, poor yields, and constrained shipments as the reason behind the pushed released and diminished haul. The rumor coincides with previous ones that suggested Apple may be having production issues, though the question still remains as to why.

According to the report by Ming Chi-Kuo, as told to Mac Rumors, “We believe iPhone 5S will experience production difficulties among numerous components as well as assembly, as seen with iPhone 5 last year. The model will thus be available only in limited amounts following launch. We expect undersupply to improve in October or November.”

iPhone 5S troubles are believed to stem from issues with the alleged fingerprint sensor believed to be outfitted for the device. While Apple definitely boasts patent rights to a fingerprint sensor, those over over at 1 Infinity Loop in Cupertino have yet to comment on the new innovation, though nobody expects them to.

Interestingly, Kuo believes Apple’s purported low-cost iPhone, which is expected to be priced between $349 and $559, will launch somewhat earlier, likely towards the beginning of September alongside the unofficially named iPad 5. Two iPad minis are expected to be made consumer available in 2014 at the earliest, one also a low-cost version and the other with a Retina display.

It was initially believed that at least one iPad mini refurbish would appear in the fall of this year but that respective issue could be due to issues concerning pixels and aspect ratio. Should Apple make an attempt at an iPad mini with Retina display, the Cupertino electronics conglomerate would need to figure away to pack 3.1 million pixels into the 7.9-inch display as opposed to the easier to do 9.7-inch device.
