With the supposed September release date for Apple’s iPhone 5S set for September, many users have to be wondering when exactly in September Apple plans on unveiling its next-generation flagship. Recent reports are pegging September 6 as the launch date, which would push the release event for sometime in late August.

The latest report stems from Apple fan site Cult of Mac which claims to have a “very credible source” at similar German Apple fan site iFun which informed them of the release and subsequent launch.

According to the site (Google translated),

“The next-generation iPhone will be according to our information on 6 September come on the market. In addition to that day, “two new types of devices” to be available – and thus are not two different color variations or memory meant. This information can reach us from a very credible and serious source.”

Having never even heard of the overseas site, I can’t personally attest to its accuracy in predicting the notoriously unpredictable Apple and its product releases.

Adding even more to my suspicion is the fact that the iFun clashes in every way possible with the latest report from KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo who forecasts Apple releasing the iPhone 5S for a launch at the end of September, though he does suggest the low-cost iPhone, now known as the iPhone 5C, will launch earlier in the month.

As for specs, little is known for either the iPhone 5S or budget-friendly iPhone 5C. The common consensus expects the 5S to sport a 4-inch IGZO display with resolution of 1136 x 640 and 326 ppi, 2GB of RAM, and a 12-megapixel rear camera. The A6 CPU chip could be the same as the one used on the current iPhone, although graphics could be upgraded.

The iPhone 5C, a case for which was just made available for pre-order on Amazon today and is pictured above, is expected to be priced somewhere between $349 and $559 without a contractual agreement.

Stay tuned to BostInno for the latest update on the iPhone 5S’s and iPhone 5C’s confirmed release date, specs, and price.
