As the iPhone 5S release dates nears daily, more and more leaked specs, photos, and videos have emerged. Most recently, a new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C video clip has surfaced around the internet putting both devices’ backplates and screens on display. Both smartphone variants are expected to launch in September, though a specific date is anyone’s best guess at this point.

Conflicting reports have come out as of late speculating on the actual date of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launches. While the common consensus is for this fall, a trend Apple has perpetuated for years, the question is when. The most recent report, courtesy of Cult of Mac, suggested that a launch for both smartphones would be around the 6th of September. That date would signify a late-August press event and subsequent release though that seems unlikely given Apple’s history and ample task of debuting two separate handsets.

Probably the most credible source on Apple’s upcoming product launches, though, is KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo who forecasts Apple releasing the iPhone 5S for a launch at the end of September, though he does suggest the iPhone 5C, will launch earlier in the month. Still, a specific date has yet to be mentioned.

As for specs, little is known for either the iPhone 5S or budget-friendly iPhone 5C. The tech junkies and Apple loyalists expect the 5S to sport a 4-inch IGZO display with resolution of 1136 x 640 and 326 ppi, 2GB of RAM, and a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera. The A6 CPU chip could be the same as the one used on the current iPhone, although graphics could be upgraded and there have been rumors spinning of a next-generation A7 chip to conserve battery while supporting the increase in computing functions via the 2GB of memory.

The iPhone 5C, a case for which was just made available for pre-order on Amazon last week, is expected to be priced somewhere between $349 and $559 without a contractual agreement and feature a colorful spectrum of plastic back covers. Look for iOS 7 on both devices.
