Mid-century glamour took center stage at Monday night’s white tie and decorations–themed MET Gala. Honoring American couturier Charles James and his glamorous designs, the red carpet was filled with celebrities in sweeping ball gowns and dapper tailcoats. So it’s pretty good timing for The Weinstein Company to announce they’re setting out to relaunch the defunct Charles James brand after licensing it with the option to buy.

Harvey Weinstein’s wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, and her brother, Marchesa CEO Edward Chapman, will serve as creative consultants on the project.

With these industry heavy hitters at the helm, will ball gowns be the next big thing? Only time will tell – but I’d recommend dusting off that corset in the meantime.
