Wegmans lovers, mark your calendars. The official opening date for the Chestnut Hill location of the popular grocery store chain has been announced.

The store, which can currently only be found in Northborough, Mass., was slated to open in Spring of 2014, and is making good on that promise, opening its doors to happy shoppers and delicious food lovers of Boston on April 27, 2014. That means in just a little over two months, we’ll all be stalking the prepared foods section for our lunches, dinner and maybe breakfasts too, depending on how easily we can get to Chestnut Hill.

Last March, Mayor Menino announced that a Wegmans would be opening in Fenway at the Landmark Center. The most recent word on that development was issued by the Boston Globe in January, and according to their article, that opening looks as though it’s still in the works under Mayor Walsh. And if the newest Wegmans opening in April sees as much success as the grocery store has come to expect, we can only assume that more Wegmans are in our future. I’ll cheers to that.

While the store has all the functions of your average Shaws or Stop n’ Shop, the prepared foods section, which boasts far more than the average to-go salad or sandwich, has earned itself a following in its own right. The section features 36 different types of fare, from fresh rolled sushi, to calzones, to breakfast sandwiches and more. If you can already feel yourself becoming overwhelmed by this to-go food paradise, don’t stress. We gathered a few tips for shopping the section from Wegmans Chestnut Hill’s Executive Chef Dan Tartaglia back in October.

And there’s all the more reason to take heed to the Chef’s advice – Wegmans is so close we can almost taste it.
