After 40 plus years, beloved North End groceria, J. Pace & Son, announced it will be closing its doors tomorrow, October 4. NorthEndWaterfront.com reported the news yesterday, including a note from owner Joe Pace.

In the note, Pace states:

“…on Saturday, October 4, I will be closing my North End location at 42 Cross Street, Boston. During my 40 + years of business, I am thankful to an endless list of customers, organizations and communities that have contributed to my success. I thank you for what J. Pace & Son Inc. has become today…”

The authentic Italian market, J. Pace & Son, opened in the 60’s serving up high quality meats, breads, cheeses, produce and desserts. It quickly became a neighborhood institution and has since expanded into 3 additional grocerias, including one in Boston’s West End, one in South Boston, and one in Saugus, MA.
