In an interview published today by Rolling Stone, Arrested Development star Jason Bateman not only praised the show for reviving his career through its quick quips and dry wit, but he also hinted at the upcoming season exclusively on Netflix and the possibility of a feature film. After lying dormant since 2006, the series will return to Netflix with 15 brand new episodes to be released simultaneously on May 26.

Bateman plays leading man Michael Bluth, the center of a neurotic, egocentric family. Per Bateman’s interview, Michael Bluth is found down on his luck after his son George Michael Bluth leaves for college. Michael is lonely, poor, and given the burdensome chore of maintaining familial obligations while trying to get himself back on his feet.

But the way Bateman describes the upcoming episodes, its as if an Arrested movie is already in the works. He notes, “That’s not even touching the movie. These episodes only represent act one. The movie will be act two and three.”

When asked outright and directly about a feature film, Bateman didn’t respond as definitively, “I think it’s highly likely that act two and act three will be delivered to the public. In what format, in what medium, remains to be seen.”

And that’s not all he hints at. Could another season of Arrested be down the pipeline? Bateman may have slipped by saying “I look forward to doing many, many more episodes or efforts, I guess. I don’t know whether they’re gonna be long form or short form, whatever. I’m looking forward to playing Michael Bluth many, many more times.”

It appears that there’s certainly more Arrested Development in store for its cult following, though over what medium is still uncertain. From Bateman’s casualness, it seems like he made no effort to conceal the possibility of future episodes or a feature film which could mean this is just the beginning of some serious hype.

Let’s hear from the Arrested fans out there. How much are you looking forward to the Netflix exclusive release of the newest season? Do you think the popular series will get the green light for another season or even a movie?
