This morning, the world heard as thousands of us supported today’s Boston Marathon runners with our virtual cheers. And this afternoon, we wanted to keep the support going. So, we teamed up with our friends at Alex and Ani to create a limited-edition “Boston Strong” bangle set for sale on Rue today. 100% of the net proceeds from the bangle set will go directly to The One Fund Boston.
Below, we sat down with Lauren, Alex and Ani’s brand communications manager, to talk about the design of the “Boston Strong” bangle set and learn more about Alex and Ani’s charitable division, Charity by Design.
Rue La La: We love the way this bangle set came out. How did you decide on the design?
Alex and Ani: The Boston bangle depicts the iconic skyline in a Rafaelian Gold finish with a blue beaded bangle. We feel it represents a city and a community that stands together as one.
RLL: Can you tell us a bit about your partnership with The One Fund Boston?
Alex and Ani: We wanted to honor and celebrate those who are a part of the Boston Marathon and were honored when Rue, a Boston business, wanted to collaborate on raising funds for The One Fund Boston. We are proud to stand beside the strong community of Boston and celebrate a resilience that’s admired by all.
RLL: Tell us about how Alex and Ani’s charitable division, Charity by Design, came to be. What inspired it?
Alex and Ani: Charity by Design formed in 2011 as a way for Carolyn Rafaelian, Alex and Ani founder, creative director, and CEO, to continue her passion of giving back. We started out with a partnership with Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island and have since grown to over 37 partnerships while lending support to over 1,500 various nonprofits nationwide.
RLL: What have been some of your most notable partnerships?
Alex and Ani: We have been inspired by local organizations, like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We have also been able to launch campaigns and nationwide efforts with organizations like the American Heart Association and Stand Up to Cancer. Each organization we work with inspires us through its actions to better the lives of others.
