Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. have teamed up  to bring two of America’s favorite pastimes together in the form of intergalactic birds with lightsabres. Angry Birds Star Wars was announced back on October 8, but Rovio has released the latest Angry Birds Star Wars trailer to promote the latest game in the popular mobile-gaming franchise.

This is the second trailer in a line of eight that Rovio will release before the game debuts on November 8. Toys, clothes, and other retail merchandise are expected to be available on October 28.

The trailer begins with original footage from the Star Wars series with Han Solo bragging about the maneuvering capabilities of his now famous Millennium Falcon (it makes the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs). The trailer then cuts to an animated Millennium Falcon assumably slingshotting through space. The slingshot, of course, is the weapon of choice for the Angry Birds.

As far as casting goes, the Angry Birds will portray the rebels while the Bad Piggies will portray the empire.

Upon the game’s announcement, Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka stated in a statement that “This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away. As a big ‘Star Wars’ fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”

Set to be released on November 8, Angry Birds Star Wars will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows 8.

For someone who’s never actually played Angry Birds and doesn’t go out of his way to watch any of the Star Wars flicks, I’m interested to see what you readers think. Ville Heijari, VP of Franchise Development noted in a statement that “There are a lot of young Angry Birds fans, from about age four and onward. And they’ll be introduced to ‘Star Wars’ for the first time. And of course there’s a massive ‘Star Wars’ following who will enjoy the game.”

But how will Angry Birds Star Wars stack up to its predecessors? Is this the best version of Angry Birds developed by Rovio? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
