It’s out with the old and in with the new as Legal Sea Foods prepares to unveil a new concept in the former Olives space in Charlestown. On Tuesday, the Charlestown Patch reported that tonight, January 30, Legal Sea Foods “will unveil what will likely be an entirely new restaurant concept to be located in Todd English’s old haunt.”

It’s reported that the unveiling will take place at Charlestown High School at 6:30 p.m. In the last few months, there’s been a lot of speculation over what exactly would be moving into Todd English’s Olives restaurant, which closed last summer.

Boston Restaurant Talk reported last October that a Facebook post from Foodservice East indicated “that the owner of Legal Sea Foods will likely open a new dining spot in the City Square space” and  that “there’s a 90% chance Roger Berkowitz will do a new Mediterranean concept geared to the neighborhood.”

This January, the The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog reported that Olives went before “the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday January 15th for a hearing on the transfer/sale of the restaurant’s’ liquor liquor license to Legal Seafoods.” Originally, it was thought that the concept would be the Legal Sea Foods offshoot restaurant, Legal C Bar.

But now, according to this latest update, it looks as though a completely new concept is heading across the river.

Zagat reported this month that a rep for Legal informed them that the “Charlestown space will actually be inhabited by a new restaurant concept with a still-TBD name.” We’re looking forward to seeing what this new Mediterranean-style Legal Sea Foods restaurant plans to bring to Charlestown.
