BostInno told you Legoland was coming. Now, its official.

The Boston Business Journal reports that Merlin Entertainments Group has begun construction on a $2.8 million Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville. The 44,000-square-foot indoor attraction will be built at Grand Union Boulevard, at the Assembly Row development site.

Expected to open next spring, Somerville’s Legoland will feature rides, a 4D cinema, a “miniland” with Lego replicas of Boston landmarks and birthday rooms. For $22, adults will be able to access the facility. Kids cost $18.

Legoland is marketed towards the 3-10 age group. Questionable decision, but I don’t know the biz.

In the spirit of innovation, BostInno has compiled a list of local places and people in and around the Hub that could use a LEGO model.

Me, personally? I built a spacious, one-bedroom, 314-square-foot Legostudio. Sure, its a pain to rebuild it, the plumbing is dodgy, and the insolation could be better. But I make do.
