The new LG Optimus G Pro is available today at AT&T. The G Pro is poised to be LG’s golden goose because, simply put, it’s a beast. If the G Pro isn’t of your liking, keep an eye out for the LG Optimus G2 which is supposedly to debut at LG’s press event in Macau on May 30. But you really ought to check out the G Pro first while you’re here.

The G Pro will sport an awesome 5.5-inch 1920×1080 HD display, which equates to a pixel density of about 400 ppi. Like other rival handsets (that means you, Samsung), the G Pro will carry hefty a 13 mp HD rear-facing camera, though LG’s comes  with audio zoom for enhanced sound quality during video capture. A front-facing camera is also included and looks to be 2.1 mp.

As for what’s under the hood, the G Pro will be run on a hefty 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor powered by a 3,140 mAh Battery. It affords the user 32GB of storage, with support for an additional 64, and 2GB of RAM allows for multitasking and plenty of techie fun. The G Pro will operate on Android’s 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, a bit of a disappointment seeing as how an Android 4.3 is showing up on devices, but we’ll let this one slide.

The LG Optimus G Pro is available for $199.99 on a two-year contract, but if you’re all like “f— contracts” then it’ll cost you $549.

I’m curious who out there is looking to buy one of these bad boys. It’s certainly a powerful device but with Nokia’s Lumia 928 hitting the market next week, I’m a bit more inclined right now to throw down on that PureView camera. Maybe its because I’ve been walking around with an embarrassing LG Cosmos 2 in my pocket for the past two years and I’m a little jaded, but this bulky handset just isn’t doing it for me. But prove me wrong LG loyalists! Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
