After having her first baby and noticing a void in the shapewear department, designer/entrepreneur/reality-TV celebrity Heather Thomson decided to create her own line. And with nothing but a sewing machine and pure determination, her first piece – the three-panel shaping tank top – was born. Fast-forward six years to today, and she’s still finding innovative ways to help women look and feel their best. But how exactly did Yummie become such a phenomenon? Here, we take a look at the first few milestones.

January 2008: Yummie by Heather Thomson is born with the debut of the Original Tank, which shreds five pounds off your appearance – no workouts necessary.

May 2008: Oprah picks the Original Tank as one of her “Favorite Things.”

April 2010: The Yummie collection expands to include ready-to-wear pieces, like camis and tops with built-in shaping.

May 2011: The Cotton Wow collection of cotton shapewear hits racks.

September 2011: Shapewear and denim meet to create jeans that slim, shape, and smooth. (And women everywhere rejoice.)

October 2011: Shaping leggings launch in fun and flirty styles and colors.

June 2012: Heather Thomson joins Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of New York City.

Our Yummie by Heather Thomson Boutique opens Wednesday, March 5, at 11AM ET.
