Happy Google I/O, techies! Wednesday is the day we’ll hear what Google has been up to, and what they have in store for the future. The conference is slated to start in San Francisco at 9 a.m. PST, which for all of us East Coasters means 12 p.m. EST – right in the middle of our workday. If you’re stuck in the office and can’t break away, Google will host a live stream of the keynote, and other sessions, right on their website. That means you have no excuse to miss out on all the announcements and opportunities to see if all the rumors floating around are true.

To watch Google I/O online, tune into the live stream here and get in on all the action. Until then, the countdown is on to freshen up on exactly what might be revealed.

The most highly anticipated rumors include a new Android operating system, rumored to be called Lollipop, which is expected to be a major overhaul from the current 4.0 OS, KitKat. Features of this could include Google Now functionality, which would give third-party apps access to Google’s voice-activated personal assistant.

Google’s increased effort with wearables is also in the works, with sessions on Google Glass, Android Wear and smartwatches. There’s some excitement at the possibility of Google revealing their own smartwatch by LG at the event, as well as Samsung announcing its version of the product, powered by Android Wear. Expanded use of Google Glass in the workplace is also likely.

In terms of the Internet of Things, smart thermostat and smoke alarm startup Nest Labs, which Google bought last year for $3.2 billion, is rumored to be launching a new device at the conference.

As the conference plays out over Wednesday and Thursday, there will be too many announcements for even the most die-hard techies to keep up with. In order to see which can’t miss events there are, check out these standout sessions that are worth taking the time to tune into.

So sit back, read up on the rumors so far (and how they might affect these 10 Boston businesses), and get excited.
