Today, March 4, is Fat Tuesday of Mardi Gras 2014, but here in Boston, it’s still business as usual. The day before Lent begins doesn’t indicate much more than a few special menus and parties will be going on here in the city. Still, as you’re likely familiar, that’s far from the case in other parts of the country. Namely, Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

But, just because you didn’t book a trip, pack a suitcase full of beads and head to Louisiana for Fat Tuesday doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun. You can live vicariously through the lives of others who will be spending the day gallivanting up and down Bourbon Street decked out in purple, green and yellow, and making the most of the – sigh – warm, sunny weather. That’s right: Watch Mardi Gras live from the comfort of your own computer.

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal. So, Boston, if you find yourselves gazing out the window on this Fat Tuesday, make your daydreaming a little more productive by acting like a virtual fly on the wall for all of today’s Mardi Gras festivities. It’s basically like a vacation from your desk, accept you don’t even have to go through airport security, and you definitely won’t wake up strewn in beads on a balcony somewhere.

The Rex Parade, the celebration’s biggest of the day, will take off down Bourbon Street at 11 a.m., with this year’s theme being “Gods of All the Ages.” Sounds intriguing, and also more interesting than whatever BuzzFeed article you were about to click on.

Tune in to the Mardi Gras fun on Bourbon Street in the live stream right here, and take note: Some of what pops up on the screen might not be safe for work, but we can’t say we didn’t warn you.
