President Obama will deliver an address to the nation about the government shutdown and you can watch it via live stream below at 12:25 p.m. ET. It’s likely the bulk of the address will be related to the government’s recent cease in operations as well as how Congress and the President will accordingly proceed.

Congress is stubbornly stuck in deadlock with both chambers of the bicameral legislature holding strong to their respective positions. The GOP House wants to pass a budgetary measure that, in some form or another, defunds or diminishes President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. Conversely, the Democratic Senate wants for full funding of Obamacare and some kind of measure, however short-term it may be, to keep the government also funded.

As of now, some government agencies and services are still up and running but all are currently beginning a transition into idleness. In Boston especially, a city rich in national monuments and federally-funded memorials, many of The Hub’s staple attractions are coming to a halt to the chagrin of the thousands of tourists and travel buffs.

The Senate will be in session today to vote on a recent House resolution that still calls for some concessions to Obamacare, though it’s widely thought that any House measure will be swiftly voted down in the same 54-46 tally as the past two GOP submissions.
