The long-awaited Southern honky tonk addition to Fenway’s neighborhood has finally arrived. Zagat is reporting that Loretta’s Last Call is opening today at 1 Lansdowne Street.

Back in April, we reported on the new country restaurant and bar, which will have “Southern Hospitality, Fried Chicken, Cold Beer & Country Music,” according to a Craigslist posting. And it looks like this “country restaurant,” officially named Loretta’s Last Call, will indeed be serving up all of those Southern things that we know and love.

Eater Boston reports that Loretta’s Last Call is “the latest venture from the Lyons Group, which also includes Sonsie, Back Bay Social Club, The Lansdowne Pub, and more…”

Zagat is reporting that the country themed restaurant will be adorned with wood-paneled walls and “will be hosting live country and bluegrass bands.” Time to put on those dancing shoes, people!

As far as food goes, Loretta’s will serve up a few of my own Southern favorites including:

“Hushpuppies with honey bourbon butter, lobster grit cakes with Tabasco, fried chicken galore, a Country Ham Dinner with biscuits and gravy, and a Southern Fish Fry of catfish, shrimp and pickled okra.”

I’m sorry – did someone say “honey bourbon butter”? Though I’ve never heard of this specific kind of honey butter, I certainly won’t argue with it. As a native southerner, I can tell you that any kind of honey butter/butter is fine by me. And obviously, fine by Boston as well. The excitement over Boston’s first country bar is evident in Bostonian’s most recent “Yeehaw” tweets, below!

If you go, Loretta’s Last Call is located at 1 Lansdowne Street by Fenway Park. To see photos of the restaurant, check out the Loretta’s Last Call Facebook page.
