The past two weeks have seen a variety of leaked pics of the alleged low-cost iPhone and today is no different. Business Insider got its hands on a photo courtesy of French fan blog nowhereelse.fr and they fall perfectly in line with the preceding images that have hit the web as well as all of the rumors and speculations. Apple is thought to be planning on releasing the low-cost iPhone in September of this year.

Very little is known of the low-cost handset that isn’t shown in the images. Apple is notorious for keeping its developments under wraps, and despite the numerous supply chain rumors and assembly line snapshots, the device has yet to even be confirmed by those over at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters.

However, much of the gossip that has been swirling for months comes from different sources but usually carries much of the same details, which means where there’s smoke there’s fire.

Here’s what we know so far. The low-cost iPhone will be encased in a colorful plastic shell and those color schemes will be bright and neon-esque. The colors are thought to align with the UI of Apple’s iOS 7, its next-generation mobile operating system, which ditched glitzy eye-popping interface aspects in favor of flat, color-coded apps and icons.

When it comes to under the hood specs though, very little has been disclosed by Apple about the low-cost iPhone or even the next-generation flagship iPhone 5S. The 5S is thought to be outfitted with dual LED flash cameras, an upgraded A7 processor chip, and double the pixels of the current-generation iPhone 5 which may double from 730,000 pixels to 1.5 million.

The low-cost smartphone will take a number of cues from the iPhone and likely the iPhone 5S as well, but as to what exactly those are is anyone’s best guess at this point. Like the 5S, the affordable version will probably run on iOS 7 as both smartphones and mobile OS are thought to launch in September of this year.
