This Saturday, October 25, Boston’s Downtown Crossing will welcome a new Italian eatery dubbed MAST’ Restaurant and Drinkery to the neighborhood. According to a release, the name MAST’ is derived from the Neapolitan term O’mast, meaning “the master of one’s craft.” And with its modern take on Neapolitan street food and craft cocktails, the new restaurant hopes to offer a “master experience of cuisine, drink, and atmosphere,” adds the release.

The new Downtown Crossing restaurant was developed by restaurateurs John DeSimone, Marco Caputo, and Anthony DePinto. The eatery’s chef, Celio Pereira, comes to MAST’ from Mamma Maria in the North End, where he served as head chef. According to the release, the menu will have “Southern Italian inspiration with a twist of Old World, European influenced Bostonia.”

DeSimone states of his restaurant:

“MAST’ draws upon our culinary experiences in the inspirational cities of Naples, Palermo, and of course Boston… We want to bring to the neighborhood the kind of place where a grand salumi plate may end up on the same table as locally harvested oysters, or handmade semolina pappardelle.”

In particular, diners can expect plenty of pizza. The new restaurant will feature an authentic wood fired Neapolitan pizza. There will also be made-for-sharing savory dinners, cocktails, late night dining, and more. In addition, the 4,000 sf space will feature a pizza bar and a free community bottle keep service for customers who want to buy a bottle of scotch (or similar) and store it.

MAST’ will seat 120 with an additional 30 seat patio outdoors. The downstairs features a lounge area for cocktails, private functions and events.

If you go, the new Downtown Crossing restaurant is located at 45 Province St.
