A tough year for Bruins fans got a little more frustrating this week, when Montreal Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty had a little fun with Boston hockey fans. The 26-year-old Pacioretty, who is relatively despised by Boston fans for his “general existence” (especially given that he has more career points against the Bruins than any other NHL team), took to the streets to hand out free burgers for a new McDonalds commercial clearly aimed at a Montreal audience.

Sadly for the hardcore Bruins fans, they were not particularly well represented in the video, given that no one seemed to recognize the rival Canadiens player very quickly. In some cases, it wasn’t until he introduced himself that fans even connected the dots. One thing they certainly did was thoroughly enjoy the free McDonalds burger, nicknamed the “Max 67.”

Upon realizing who they were talking to, the fans’ moods changed, though it appears no one tried to drop the gloves (nor did Pacioretty engage in any diving, to complete the predictable overview of stereotypes). In other words, it was a surprisingly civil outing for the otherwise-unpopular Canadiens left winger.

The Bruins’ playoff chances are currently on life-support, while Montreal is surging.
