UPDATE: MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo told BostInno in an email, “All clear. The box did not pose a hazard.”

It’s being reported Wednesday morning that the MBTA station at Downtown Crossing has been subjected to a bomb threat. Train delays are running rampant and the area has since been confined. A man has since been taken into custody.

According to WCVB, police say they responded to the threat at approximately 8:40 a.m. and 426 Washington Street. The Boston Globe is reporting that a man walked into Downtown Crossing station, a major transportation hub where multiple transit line intersect, with a box around 8:30 a.m.

“He told an MBTA employee on the Orange Line platform that the box has a bomb in it and then he walked away,” said MBTA Spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told the publication.

426 Washington Street is in uncomfortably close proximity to the old Filene’s, soon to be Millennium Tower, and all construction has been shut down.
