UPDATE: Green Line service is resuming with residual delays.

EARLIER: If you haven’t descended into the depths of Boston this morning to take the T yet, you may want to find an alternative mode of transportation. The MBTA Green Line is experiencing severe delays due to track issues. The E branch of the line has suspended service until further notice.

The following stops are not being serviced at this time, so plan accordingly:

  • Prudential
  • Symphony
  • Northeastern University
  • Museum of Fine Arts
  • Longwood Medical Area
  • Brigham Circle
  • Fenwood Road
  • Mission Park
  • Riverway
  • Back of the Hill
  • Heath Street

The entire Green Line system is affected as the B, C and D branches are also crawling. Service is suspended between Haymarket and Arlington Station in both directions and anyone who opted for the Green is encouraged to hop on the Orange, which, through downtown, parallels the Green.

Kelly Smith, press secretary for the MBTA/MassDOT, said “T personnel discovered a rail defect that needs to be corrected… Crews are working feverishly to get service back to normal as soon as possible.”

Stay tuned to BostInno for updates regarding Green Line service. For more information about alternate routes and alerts, check out the MBTA website here.
