UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): Service between between Arlington & Kenmore and Arlington & Prudential stations has resumed with moderate delays.

As if commuters weren’t having a difficult time getting into Boston this morning, there are more severe delays caused by the weather. There’s a broken track on the Green Line near Copley Station and buses are shuttling passengers between Kenmore and Haymarket Stations.

When asked if the broken track was somehow caused by the bitter winter weather, MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told BostInno “That’s believed to be the case.”

All subway lines are experiencing weather delays, arguably the worst of which is the Red Line which experienced a power outage Monday night. It, too, is using buses to shuttle passengers between between Braintree and JFK/UMass stations.

“A week of constant exposure to frigid temperatures, ice, and record snowfall has taken a major toll on the MBTA’s vehicles and infrastructure,” Pesaturo told BostInno earlier this morning. “Rail service, particularly on the Red Line and Commuter Rail, will be severely impacted.”

Several Commuter Rail lines are also experiencing delays. Some trains have been delayed until tomorrow while others were outright canceled.

In declaring a delayed start for non-emergency state employees, Gov. Charlie Baker said “the MBTA plans to run a regular schedule, but commuters are encouraged to check MBTA.com/winter for scheduling updates.”
