Seven people were hurt Wednesday morning when an out-of-service MBTA trolley hit another trolley on the Mattapan Line near Dorchester, T spokesperson Joe Pesaturo said.

Injured parties–five passengers and two trolley operators–reported back discomfort. No passengers were onboard the out-of-service trolley.

WBZ reports, passengers were evacuated off the trolley, “some holding ice packs, as they walked from the collision site to Cedar Grove Station.”

An investigation is underway, and shuttle buses are replacing service along the Mattapan Line.

In more bad Red Line news: shuttle buses are also replacing Red Line service between Harvard and Alewife station this morning due to a disabled maintenance vehicle on the tracks just south of Porter Station. Severe delays are expected.

“Crews are on scene, working to get the maintenance equipment off of the main line,” the T said in a statement a little after 5 a.m. this morning, issuing an apology to its riders.

The T is asking for riders to allow for extra time while shuttle bus service is in effect. Buses will make pick ups at Johnson’s Gate at Harvard Stadium. Those who can do so are asked to seek alternative transportation.
