Limited MBTA service resumed Wednesday morning, and riders are less than pleased about it.

Delays have broken out on all lines; three trains – two on the Green Line, one on the Blue Line – have been disabled; long lines have formed at bus stops; and, to make matters worse, it’s snowing out. No one knows why.

The T’s general manager, Beverly Scott, was adamant in her defense of the transit agency on Tuesday, suggesting that, given historic snow and the ancient state of its vehicles, it’s something of a miracle that the T is able to provide any service.

“In these conditions, there is no set of standards out there right now,” Scott told reporters at a press conference. “We are always thinking ‘how we can, not why we can’t.'”

The T never promised Wednesday service would be smooth. It hasn’t been. And riders have taken to Twitter about it.
